on the Cabot Trail… in a red shoe

As promised (a while ago), here are some memories from our Cape Breton journey. On our northward trek on the Cabot trail, the road that wraps around the Island, we heard our bellies growling as we passed through the town of Mabou. There we pulled up a chair at the Red Shoe Tavern, a quaint little eatery founded by the Rankin sisters of what has become a renowned Maritime music clan. A glass of good Nova Scotia beer after we arrived,  our food arrived and we fell into 15 minutes of lovely deep-fried silence. We look forward to returning for some of their famous musical evenings.
