Planning a Pinterest Party
One of the joys I have as a mother is planning and decorating parties for my little ones. It allows me to be creative, and I personally love the challenge of planning and pulling-off a budget-friendly yet pinterest-worthy party that’s totally doable, and that won’t break the bank. I first decide on a theme, then add any essentials I refuse to compromise on, and then finally add a bit of flair with some color (such as balloons, paper lanterns, garlands, banners, or floral pieces) and easy DIY crafts. Then the food; I absolutely pick foods that are healthy and easy to serve AND use them as decoration as well. I am all about the plating and presentation!
It’s all in the Details
For Audrey’s Baptism Party last year, I wanted to go with a classy and elegant theme but also one that invoked the virtue of purity, so I focused on florals, pink and white. I added a touch of whimsy by decorating with DIY tissue pom-poms and making cupcakes (mini ones for the kids) with vanilla buttercream frosting, and topping them with pink sprinkles and edible pearl beads. So pretty! It took a minimal amount of preparation time but had a big impact as you can see from the photos. Since the party was mid-afternoon, immediately following the ceremony, I chose tea party foods, which included berries, biscotti, cupcakes, champagne & sparkling cider, and coffee/tea. Easy peasy!
Photos Tell a Thousand Words
I had decided to hire a professional photographer for her Baptism – we hadn’t gotten the chance to schedule any professional newborn photos for her (second child problems, right?). Baptism being her spiritual birthday, this was the perfect opportunity for us and an appropriate reason to celebrate her a big way. Our photographer was simply amazing and a joy to work with; she’s seriously talented. If you’re in Prince Edward Island, you’re lucky she’s local!
In my next post I’ll share pictures from the ceremony and some family photos from that day as well. I now realize hadn’t shared these with many of my family and friends last year…sorry! That will soon be remedied in Part 2!
