My sister got me this Mother’s Day Gift this year. These are all the rage right now, and after my first attempt, I can see why. The colors are stunning, the gel dried quickly, and my nail color managed to stay completely intact for up to 3 days… for me this is a win because I’m pretty rough with my hands. These cost about $12 a bottle individually so at $18.50 for the set (you need the top coat to set the gel and smooth out the color), it’s a fantastic deal. The essie Gel set is definitely mom-friendly, and at that price, belongs at the top of this Mother’s Day Gift Guide.
2. Instant Pot
This may easily be THE gift of the year. I got one last fall and have used it at least twice per week ever since. It seriously cuts down on cooking time while keeping more of the nutrients and vitamins in your food than frying or baking since pressure cooking tends to keep the juices inside the foods. It can take as little as half an hour to make a delicious meal. There are so many recipes available both online and in cook books! An Instant Pot can do double-duty as your crockpot or rice cooker, which makes hubby happy, since he hates having cupboards full of dozens of single-use kitchen tools. Other uses include making bone-broth in just a few hours, cooking meats from frozen in about an hour, as well as soups, sauces, and chili – all under an hour. You can cook grains and steam veggies, and if your kids are like mine, they will wolf down my 10-minute applesauce like the world is ending. They say you can even make cheesecake in this pot. We’ll see about that… Yeah, this thing is pretty amazing! I will share the recipes I have tried and love in separate posts soon! We have the Lux 6 in 1 model and as we aren’t keen on making homemade yogurt, I found that it’s enough for our family right now, and this choice saved us $20 under the best-seller. Instant Pot just released a plus model which has 9 functions with all the bells and whistles, but of course, a higher price tag. If you’re curious you can read up on it here (EDIT: This is on SALE right now for $99 which is $20 off!). If you have a large family, you may want to consider the 8 quart model.
This comes in close second to the Instant Pot in this Mother’s Day Gift Guide as a wonderful gift your wife or mother. Add milk, press a button and in 70 seconds you’ll have frothy, steaming milk for your coffee or espresso. As a coffee enthusiast myself, this is such a simple way to transform an ordinary coffee into a cafe-worthy latte or cappuccino. If froth isn’t her thing, it also can simply warm the milk up to help preserve the heat of your coffee, or do a cold froth for your homemade frappuccino. Save option: we got this one for my parents (which is on sale for $32.99 right now) and found it works just the same just without the fancy branding. We currently have the now-discontinued aeroccino which we got years ago, used heavily, and it’s still going strong.
I’ve added this to my Gift Guide, as I personally have one of these Do It All Planners and I literally use it ALL the time. It’s a wonderful tool and pretty to look at too. I recently spotted this beautiful planner from Blessed Is She, which looks gorgeous and functional. I am very discerning when it comes to organization but this one looks promising and I give it extra kudos for the spiritual aspects that will help me turn my daily moments into prayer as I have been striving for lately. It’s available for preorder only and should ship mid-June.
Lipstick that promises to stay only on YOUR lips, lasting up to 6 hours. I have been so intrigued by this product for the last several months, and finally ordered my first set from a friend, taking advantage of the Mother’s Day special. With two young children, I already have too much laundry to do. It’s nice to know I won’t have to worry about removing lipstick stains from clothes. I think this belongs on a Mother’s Day Gift Guide, as we mothers only tend to wear lipstick on special occasions; I look forward to kissing my husband or my kids without having to worry about wiping my lipstick off of them. I’ll be sure to give a detailed review soon once I’ve given it a rigorous testing…
There you have it! A Mother’s Day Gift Guide of 5 things I truly believe almost EVERY mom will love and appreciate. Of course, you can’t go wrong with a meal out, flowers, a thoughtful note or card, and spending time with her and telling her how much you love her! Lastly, I’ve always thought it would be fun to go on a mother-daughter spa date! I think as a mom, spending time stress-free with those I love the most, is the best gift I could receive. Oh and don’t forget about those prayers! Spiritual gifts are always priceless and eternally rewarding!
